Junior cricket season returns to Budleigh with new guide for families

Budleigh Salterton Cricket Club is gearing up for another busy summer as its junior section returns for the 2026 season, with Friday night training sessions back from April 24.

The club, which continues to see strong growth in youth participation, has also launched a new Junior Cricket Season Guide to help families navigate everything from training times and match play to kit, volunteering and safeguarding.

The guide, designed as a simple, all-in-one reference for parents and players, reflects the club’s continued focus on making junior cricket accessible and welcoming.

Club Chair James England said:
“Whether your child is picking up a bat for the first time or returning for another season, we’re delighted to have you with us. Our junior section is built around enjoyment, development and community - and that’s what makes Friday nights so special.”

Junior cricket at Budleigh is open to all abilities, with clear pathways for those who want to progress, alongside a strong emphasis on participation and fun. Players can move through age groups, access additional training opportunities and, for older juniors, transition into senior cricket or women’s teams .

Weekly sessions run throughout the summer, with All Stars starting at 5pm (from 9th May) and junior training from 6pm, supported by a team of volunteer coaches and a strong community of parents and supporters .

The new guide also highlights the club’s wider community ethos, encouraging families to get involved beyond the boundary, whether through scoring, helping at events or supporting the running of the club.

A full calendar of social events and key dates runs alongside the cricket season.

Junior coordinator Andrew Chatterton added:
“We want every family to feel part of the club. Cricket is a team sport, but a thriving club is a community effort - and that’s what makes it such a great environment for young players.”

With the season set to run through to late August, the club is encouraging both returning and new families to get involved.
