Ottermouth - May 2022: Budleigh Salterton Cricket Club are announcing that final planning approvals have been granted for a landmark new clubhouse building at the new ground located at Janey’s field, Budleigh Salterton.
The approvals pave the way for construction to start on site within the next few months which will see the construction of a new purpose-built facility at the club. The new clubhouse will provide a much enhanced cricketing and social space for the club and community, with cutting edge design that will deliver a modern facility capable of meeting the needs of all forms of cricket - from Mens, Ladies and Junior Cricket, to all forms of disability cricket.
The innovative two storey design will host all the working elements of the club on the lower floor - this includes fully accessible county standard changing facilities, comms and plant rooms, and an integral green-keepers shed.
Upstairs will host a large entertaining space capable of hosting events, as well as a large raised balcony that will give 180° panoramic views of the otter estuary and out to sea. All areas of the club will be fully accessible and provide an amazing community space for all.
With the pitches already constructed, the club will be moving in at the end of 2022 with the first ball being bowled on the new pitches in April 2023. The clubhouse construction phase will take 12 months and be completed towards Autumn 2023.
The club plans to put interim facilities in place whilst the clubhouse is being constructed, and will be hosting a full schedule of cricket throughout the 2023 season.
