New patio set to take shape !

New patio set to take shape !

Emma Cooling4 Feb - 20:25

Work starts on Monday

Work on our new patio starts next week and this vital addition to our clubhouse area will be complete by the start of the season!
The project has been made possible thanks to the generosity of our supporters and grant-giving bodies and will transform an uneven, uninviting area into a safe, smart, welcoming space accessible by all.
The new patio will enhance facilities at The Holt creating a multi-functional area for spectators and visitors that is fully accessible for wheelchairs and those with mobility issues.
Club treasurer Andy Drodge said: “After receiving several strong quotes and designs for the disabled access project we are delighted to announce that we will be working with Devon Firm Unique Projects on this next exciting phase of our ground development.”
Ben Browning, Unique Projects director, said his team were looking forward to beginning work on Monday, February 10. He said “Unique Projects are thrilled to have been chosen to assist the committee of Budleigh Salterton Cricket Club in the delivery of their new club house terrace and surrounding landscaping. We are very proud to be based in Devon and to play a part in creating this facility with New Space Architecture is an honour. Thanks must go to our suppliers who shared our vision.
“For us the scheme had to sympathetically compliment this award winning building and yet sit naturally in the local environment. As it is an estuary setting the elements will be unforgiving and likewise so will cricket studs. We have chosen a pallette of Vuba permeable resin surfaces to accent the foreshore pebbles/sand, CorTen steel edging and high quality Porcelain paving by Devon Stone “
BSCC Fundraising co-ordinator Carolyn Roper said: “After months of fundraising we are so excited to begin the project of laying a patio around the clubhouse. Even better, it will be in place for the new season. Making this key area at the club safer, more accessible and welcoming has really resonated with our community who got fully behind our crowdfunding efforts last year. It is another great example of where the community has supported the club, and their generous enthusiasm has made this happen. We can’t thank you enough.”
