New club chairman announced!

3rd XI skipper James at the helm
Following last week’s Annual General Meeting we are thrilled to announce that James England has been elected as the club’s new chairman.
In last week’s newsletter we thanked outgoing Chairman Joel Murphy for his hard work, dedication, and commitment to the club over his six years in the role – we’re now delighted to introduce James (aka Squadron Leader Jimmer) to those of you who haven’t already met him.
James has been associated with the club since the age of 11 and is the much-loved and respected captain of our 3rd XI.
Welcoming his successor Joel said: “ I am really pleased that James has stepped forward to take the role of chairman and my congratulations to him. As a lifelong Otter he has the best interests of club and its members in his heart and we all look forward to the next exciting part of the club’s history. I know the committee will give James its full support in the coming years and I hope that he finds the experience as rewarding as I have.”
James said: “I am truly honoured to become Chairman of Budleigh Salterton Cricket Club. Having been part of BSCC since the age of 11 I understand how important this club is to Budleigh and the wider community. It’s a complete privilege for me to follow in the footsteps of the previous chairmen who have shaped the club across its 168-year history, and I hope I can be as influential as those who have come before me. I would also like to place on record my sincere thanks to Joel Murphy, who has stepped down after six years of truly outstanding work. His contribution to the club has been immense and greatly appreciated by all.
“I'm looking forward to working even more closely with our fantastic committee, whose dedication and hard work never goes unnoticed, as well as welcoming both existing and new members to the club this forthcoming season. There’s a real sense of excitement around what lies ahead, and all the signs suggest it’s going to be a cracking season.”
Welcome on board Jimmer and thank you for stepping up to the role – the committee is confident you will continue to build on the strong foundations already in place and help the club thrive both on and off the field!
