Holt hosts region's first walking cricket festival

Come and support on July 2

On Thursday July 2, Budleigh Salterton Cricket Club will host the South West’s very first Walking Cricket Festival, bringing together teams from across Devon for a fantastic day of friendship, fun and gentle competition.

Walking cricket is a slower-paced, inclusive version of the game, designed for players aged 50+. Whether you’re a former club player, someone dusting off memories from school days, or completely new to the game, there’s a place for you here at The Holt.

During his visit earlier this month HRH The Duke of Gloucester joined the walking cricketers, picking up a bat and giving it his best shot!

Despite only launching last year, the co-ordinators of our walking cricket section have already built a thriving community, with 20–30 players taking part each week and enjoying all the benefits of staying active, social and involved in the game they love - followed by a catch up over a drink.

The festival runs from 10am to 4pm, with matches taking place across both club grounds and plenty of opportunities to enjoy the atmosphere.

Spectators are warmly invited to come along, cheer on the teams, enjoy refreshments, and discover why walking cricket is one of the fastest-growing ways to enjoy the sport.

Everyone at the club is very proud of this new provision and grateful to the energy of the volunteers behind our walking cricket - come and support them on July 2 and enjoy a day of laughter, good sportsmanship and community spirit.
