The Holt hosted a remarkable celebration of cricket on Sunday September 15 for the Devon Women and Girls’ finals day - complete with a full female umpiring team!
BSCC women’s side were on duty helping to host and ensuring the day ran smoothly and also managed to scoop a few awards between them at the prize giving ! Massive well done to Liz Burgess who had her incredible work as team manager recognised and to Lucy and Isla Dixon who were named ‘inspirational volunteers of the year ‘ in the age 11-16 category.
Liz said: “The season reached a fantastic climax where The Holt hosted the Devon County Girl’s semifinals & finals on the same day. We all thorougly enjoyed watching the days’ events, including the award ceremony for both the Ladies & Girls Devon League winners in all categories and to those who have supported in advancing Women’s cricket in Devon. A huge thank you to everyone involved including those behind the scenes in making this such a successful day and I’m sure we are all looking forward to the start of the next season.”
Women and girls development officer (and the organiser of the day's packed programme) Ann-Marie Presswell summed up the day - “The sun’s shining , cricket is in full flow and it’s just fantastic to see so many girls playing cricket!”
