Once in a lifetime trip offer
A once-in-a-lifetime trip beckons for BSCC’s rising star Alex Roper and he’s hoping club supporters will get behind his fundraising bid.
Alex is one of only 14 county players selected to represent Devon on an U15 cricket tour to South Africa in October - but this one-off cricketing opportunity rests on him raising a whopping £3,375.
As well as taking on odd jobs like lawn-mowing to raise cash, Alex is organising a Bingo night at The Holt on Friday, April 4 to help reach his target.
Alex’s track record of cricket success is testament to his commitment to the sport – his place in the highly competitive Devon squad involves year-round training and as well as captaining the club’s current U15 side he also plays for our U17, U19 and 2nd XI sides and is captain of his Exmouth Community College team.
The South Africa trip will provide Alex with a unique opportunity to hone his cricket skills and to develop as a player. He said: “From dealing with different climate and weather conditions to learning how to master the pitch types, I will learn new skills in an environment that I can bring back and share with my team mates back in BSCC.”
“For me this is an amazing opportunity to represent Budleigh Salterton Cricket Club and Devon and is something I’ve been working towards for several years,” he added.

Devon cricket is producing a tour brochure which will be circulated to all cricket clubs in the county and promoted on social media platforms providing a great opportunity for corporate sponsorship - revenue from any advertisements Alex secures for this will count towards his fundraising total.
