Nearly 200 children came with their schools to enjoy the fantastic facilities at the Holt in two separate competitions last week!
On Wednesday we hosted teams from seven secondary schools for an East Devon U12 Softball cricket tournament.
The sun shone and the ground was buzzing with activity - a lovely backdrop enjoyed by those tucking into food and drink on the patio!
Exmouth Community College PE teacher Ian Taylor said: “A massive thank you to Budleigh Salterton Cricket Club for hosting our Year 7 Softball Cricket Festival. 100 Boys and Girls from 7 East Devon schools had a wonderful afternoon with some exciting and entertaining cricket! Congratulations to Colyton who beat Exmouth in final by 8 runs.”
On Thursday we welcomed nine primary schools for the East Devon Mixed Countdown cricket competition, run by Devon Cricket Foundation’s East Devon community coach Chris Brown – a pathway event to the Devon final.
Chris said: “What a day! The weather held off and schools from all over East Devon made their way to the Holt for a match packed day. The children were outstanding today, whether it was; big hits, stumps flying or sportsmanship which would put most adults to shame they outdid themselves and should all go back to school on Monday with heads held high.
“My thanks to all children, teachers and parents as without them the day couldn’t have happened. Of course finally thank you also to our hosts Budleigh for allowing us use of your ground and enabling all of this to happen.”
East Devon Mixed Countdown Competition winners were Stoke Hill with Seaton as runner up. Both teams go through to Devon County Final Countdown Competitions later on in the month.
School provision continues this week with visits from Magdalen Court school and Barley Lane pupils!
