Budleigh town council has recognised the benefits that BSCC brings to the community and has awarded the club a grant to help our patio appeal!
The funding from the council will be added to the £6,750 that we are working so hard to raise in order to secure the same amount in match funding from Sport England - our crowdfunder appeal is now tantalisingly close to its halfway point, see link at foot for how to donate!
The criteria of the Sport England match funding means the contribution from the town council cannot count as part of our crowdfunding appeal so the pressure is still on to raise the £6750 in less than seven weeks - but the grant is a welcome boost to our fundraising for this project.
A town council spokesperson said: “Members of the Town Council were impressed with the work which Budleigh Salterton Cricket Club has carried out to create a new clubhouse on the outskirts of the town and which benefits the young people living in the town and surrounding villages. The Holt is already attracting additional visitors to the town, particularly for sport and exercise, and Members felt it was important to support the Club’s plans to provide inclusive facilities and accessibility for all groups, which is vital for the town.
“They were more than happy to make a grant from the Council’s Community Infrastructure Levy fund to enable the Club to move forward with plans to upgrade the area between the changing rooms and pitch, which in turn means equal access to cricket for all ages, gender and physical capabilities.”
