BCL Finals day success!!!

Shield victory for Academy
Community League Finals Day was a fantastic finale to another hugely enjoyable BCL season, with great cricket, crowds of enthusiastic supporters and a brilliant atmosphere throughout the day!
Congratulations go to Academy, who were crowned Shield winners, and to East Budleigh Football Club, who claimed the Plate. Both competitions were played in the spirit that has come to define the Community League – competitive, but above all friendly, inclusive and fun.
Congratulations to Sam Conway from Academy team who won the Steve Richardson trophy for his top performance in the finals!
The Finals Day brought together players, families, friends and supporters, with a terrific crowd creating a real buzz around The Holt. The Community League gives players of all ages and abilities the chance to enjoy cricket and brings people from across the local community together at the club.
Community League Co-ordinator Barry Real summed up another memorable season:
“What a great season for the long-running BCL! Nine teams, 36 matches, 4 semi-finals and two finals for the shield and plate competitions. All games played in great spirit, providing lots of laughs and including players of all ages and abilities. Congratulations to the Academy who won the shield and East Budleigh FC who took home the plate!! Let us know if you want to come and play or enter a team. See you in 2027!”
The day continued into the evening in the clubhouse with music from The Club Classics Experience, providing the perfect soundtrack of some 90s dance anthems to round off a fantastic Finals Day.
A huge thank you goes to everyone who played, supported, organised, volunteered and helped make both Finals Day and the whole Community League season such a success, particularly Barry for his hard work co-ordinating so many fixtures and keeping track of results!
