We are proud that Budleigh Salterton is one of a select few of clubs across Devon to offer this low-impact version of traditional cricket designed to accommodate players of all ages and abilities, especially older adults or those with reduced mobility.
Weekly sessions run from 10am until 12 noon every Thursday, offering a relaxed way back into cricket or a sociable introduction to it, for men and women aged over 50!
Walking cricket is a format of the game in which running is not allowed - players walk to score runs, bowl and move around and everybody gets the opportunity to bat, bowl and field in all cricket positions.
The weekly sessions cost £5 (£4 for members) on a ‘pay as you go’ basis. As more clubs sign up to the sport the opportunities for fixtures will increase and, in conjunction with Devon Cricket Foundation and thanks to the commitment of our walking cricket co-ordinators, we are excited to be hosting a one-day walking cricket festival on July 2 with all walking cricket teams in Devon invited to participate.
Mark Waistell, one of the four BSCC walking cricket co-ordinators, said: “Walking Cricket is for those who used to play, those who have never played and those who have always wanted to play. A warm welcome for all men and women over-50 who want an enjoyable, inclusive cricket experience with a social environment. Walking Cricket is Sport with a Smile!".

* On Thursday July 2 the club will be hosting the region's first walking cricket festival from 10am - 4pm, an ideal opportunity for anyone interested to come along and find out more. Entry is free, everyone is welcome, bar open and refreshments available!
